Abstract

Astronomical near-infrared diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) were compared with laboratory photoabsorption experiments and time-dependent density-functional-theory (TD-DFT) calculations for pure-carbon fullerene and graphene-like molecules. The study focuses on neutral fullerene C60, cationic fullerene C₆₀+, and graphene-like carbon molecules including C54, C53, C52, and C₅₁ as potential DIB carriers.
